Whiteheads
What are whiteheads?
A group of sebum and keratin that blocks up pores, it then
proceeds to inbed itself in the follicular canal UNDER the
skin, this gives it a "bump" like shape on the skin surface.
This type of acne is given the medical term WHITEHEAD.
What causes whiteheads?
Like blackheads, these are caused by accumulation of
hardened sebum or oils, in the pores of the skin. The
difference is that in areas where the skin is fine and
delicate, the clogged grease is not exposed to air and
therefore it does not take on the "black" colour pigment that
blackheads do. Oxidization does not take place and does not
darken the tips as on case of blackheads. The whiteheads appear
in the form of tiny, pearly, white raised bumps on the surface
of the skin. They are common on the area just above the
cheekbone, nose, just under the eyes or where the
skin is fine.
