Moderate acne
Moderate acne is the medium stage of acne, it is best
described by the grading system used by dermatologists below.
For this kind of acne, you may be prescribed an oral
medication.

- Inflamed red lesions

Treatments for moderate acne
- Oral medication may be prescribed, these may
include;

- Minocycline
- Tetracyline
- Doxycyline
- Erythromycin
- Some patients may wish to use non-steroidal and
non-inflammatory drugs, such as

- Your doctor or dermatologist may also prescribe you
some oral Isotretinion, this is specifically for acne which
reoccurs.
- Apply topical gels, solutions, creams and lotions. Many
of these can be bought from your local chemists. We call
these treatments "Over the counter" treatments or OTC for
short.
- Apply "Anti-acne" products, many of these products come
in cream form. You should aim to apply it twice a day and
you SHOULD NOT worry if your skin becomes dry and starts
flaking. This is a sign its work, and will soon go once
your skin gets used to it, usually 2 to 4 weeks.
