How to get rid of body acne
Body acne is prevalent and often harder to
treat than facial acne. The back is made up of thousands
of sebaceous glands that produce excess levels of oil
making this area more susceptible to the formation of
cysts and nodules. Body acne is also usually in harder to
reach places, such as your back, and therefore harder to
treat. But through a longer and intenser treatment plan,
it is possible to overcome body acne.
Treatments
- Wash the acne affected areas DAILY using
anti-bacterial soft soap.
- Apply benzoyl peroxide cream with 5% - 10%
concentration DAILY. This will dry out
the pimples, after this use a moisturiser to exfoliate your
skin and combat any excess dryness.
TOP TIP: Don't use
the same benzoyl concentration on your body acne as you do
with your face acne, your body will with tougher and
thicker skin and can therefore handle a higher
concentration! Meaning a quicker acne
recovery!
- While in the shower use a exfoliating scrub to get rid
of dead skin cells, but don't rub too hard or you could
cause irritation to the skin and increase acne
breakouts.
- It is important to wash your body straight after
playing a sport or sweat-inducing activity, doing this will
remove all sweat, oil and dead skin cells from your
body.
- Also, keep in mind, as with most acne treatments and
regimes, they take time to show visible results, most of
the work in being done deeper then the skin surface.
- Although its tempting, don't pick or scratch pimples,
this will just further aggravate your acne.
- If OTC medications are not fighting your acne
effectively than you should visit your dermatologist, who
can prescribe you oral medication, such as;
-
- Tetracycline
- Minocycline
- Or you could try stronger topical treatments such
as;
-
- Retin
A
- Or as a absolute last resort, your dermatologist may
prescribe Accutane, this
has
shown to be very effective against all forms of
acne. It's extremely potent and it has warning
label probably 20 feet long. You can only get it if you
have cystic/nodular acne that just won't go away no matter
what you do. You have to get on a waiting list for it and
get 2 pre-medication blood works, get bloodwork every month
during it and for 2 months after it. A couple people killed
themselves while they were on it so the government went all
cuckoo and made it almost impossible to get. It's really
amazing though and it's side effects are seriously over
hyped. If you try a ton of stuff that doesn't work and your
acne is really bothering you, then you can eventually get
on the list to get it.
Top Tips
- Try to wear loose-fitting and clothing made of cotton
when excercising, this will allow your skin to
breathe.
- Also, when washing your clothes use a detergant for
"sensitive skin" or "fragrance free"
Good luck and keep at it! Remember, it takes time! But in
the end, its all worth it when you step in front of that
mirror!
