Body acne

Acne has not boundaries or limits! It will, and can, spread onto your body as well as your face. The most common areas on your body are;

  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Back
  • Shoulders
  • Butt

This form of acne can be very embarrassing and annoying to the individual and often prevents them from wearing tank tops or swim suits at the beach or even getting intimate with a loved one and it is a real self-esteem crusher. But don't give up! Following these simple methods and tips will have you back in skin revealing tops in no time.

Body acne is prevalent and often harder to treat than facial acne. The back is made up of thousands of sebaceous glands that produce excess levels of oil making this area more susceptible to the formation of cysts and nodules. Another problem with body acne is that its in hard to reach places, such as your back, and so hard to reach in order to treat it.

What causes body acne?

Apart from all the usual culprits - Stress, hormones, over-washing etc, one of the main causes of body acne is when sweating and tight clothing meet. Friction from your clothing will further irritate areas already affected by acne. When you sweat in tight clothing, such as rugby pads, this sweat mixes in with your natural oils and this produces a pore-clogging and acne-inducing film on your skin, perfect conditions for acne to take action.
