Want acne free and fresh skin? Try the Acne Diet!

Although there is little credible or proven evidence that acne and food are linked, some believe that having a healthier diet decreases the acne they have. And there are indeed some foods which help your body and immune system tackle acne more effectively. SO here it is, the acne diet!

Food NOT to eat

Avoid food with saturated fats or trans fat in them, they can lead to oily skin, which provides the perfect breeding grounds for bacteria to cause acne. Saturated fats can be found;

  • Meats
  • Diary - Replace with soy milk and yoghurt.
  • Poultry
  • Chocolate

Although you would have to eat a lot of these substances over a short amount of time to cause any real effects, its best to keep off them. Other foods or substances to avoid are;

  • Avoid alcohol or at least minimize it, alcohol can cause high levels of toxins in the liver.
  • Fried or fatty foods
  • Minimize your intake of red meat.

 

Foods TO eat

You should try and make your diet full of proteins, as this will descrease the amount of enzymes that cause excess oil production.

Vitamin A, this is very helpful is preventing and dealing with acne, but don't overdo it, as vitamin A in high doses is toxic. Vitamin A can be found naturally in;

  • Fish oils
  • Liver
  • Dairy
  • Yellow/Orange fruits
    • Carrots
    • Yams
    • Apricots
  • Green vegetables
    • Spinach
    • Paresley
    • Kale

Vitamin B-2, stress if often one of the leading causes in acne, especially in Adult Acne, and vitamin B-2 has be known to greatly decrease and help with stress. Foods found with a high level or concentration of vitamin B-2 are;

  • Whole grains
  • Fish
  • Milk
  • Egg
  • Meat
  • Green vegetables

Vitamin B-3, this vitamin specalises is improving the condition of your skin and is also very good at lowering your cholesterol levels in blood and helps your body to digest protein quicker. Vitamin B-3 can be found in these foods;

  • Peanuts
  • Eggs
  • Liver
  • Lean meats
  • Avocados

TOP TIP! - Drink PLENTY of water. Aim for 8 glasses a day.This will flush out toxins through your kidneys, insead of your skin pores.

Vitamin E, this vitamin is a very powerful antioxidant, helps protects your bodies cells against free radicals and toxins. Vitmain E can be found in high concentrations in;

  • Almonds
  • Peanuts
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Broccoli
  • Vegetable oils

Finally, Zinc, this is renown for boosting and helping the immune system greatly, even the slightest amount can help. Zinc can be found in high concentrations in these foods;

  • Eggs
  • Whole grain
  • Nuts
  • Mushrooms

Another antioxidant is Ascorbic acid, this can be found in high concentrations in;

  • Cirtus fruits
    • Oranges
    • Sweet limes
  • Green peppers
  • Broccoli
  • Strawberries
  • Raw cabbage
  • Tomatoes

Omega-3 fatty acids and Omega-6 fatty acids are essential fats that the body cannot produce. They must be consumed through diet. These essential fats are responsible for reducing skin inflammation and improving blood circulation, giving you a clear, glowing skin and helping you to prevent premature aging.

The Aloe Vera Pill, has shown positive results in clearing up acne. It has been proven to detoxify your body and help to boost your immune system.

Top Tips

  1. Eat fish 3 times a week
  2. Eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits each day. The more colours the better.
  3. Eat plenty of fibres.

  7. For the next couple of weeks, stick to the regimen below:
    -Drink a glass of warm water with lemon and honey in the morning and evening
    -Drink lots of water throughout the day to flush out the toxins
    -Drink at least 3 cups of green tea a day - green tea contains antibacterial properties to kill the bacteria
    -Try to do some exercise so you can sweat out all the toxins. Also, try to do meditation
    -Eat as many apples as you can. You should buy organic apples at Wholefood. Dont buy apples at Safeway. Safeway apples contain pesticides that can toxify your body
    -Eat oatmeal for breakfast
    -Eat 2 cups of yogurt a day - yogurt boost ur immune system and contain microbiotic organisms that help your digestive system and control the acid/yeast
    -Eat lots of green veggies (organic if possible)
    -Stay away from coffee, sugar, carbohydrates, fatty and fried food
    -Eat salmon and cantaloupe as much as possible
